Description of activity:
The Oral History Seminar will be organized primarily for students; however, everyone who would like to grasp some new skills or just likes to go on the field and interact with people, witnesses of the burnings of the villages in Istria, is welcome. We encourage multicultural involvement. In one week, from 12th to 16th October 2015, participants will attend the excursion to Croatia (Day 1), and learn by an interdisciplinary team of experts the basics of the theory and foremost the practice of Oral History (Day 2). In small groups, participants will in two days conduct interviews with a witness of the destructions in one of the burnt villages in the surroundings of Koper and make some shootings of the village outlook today (Day 3 and 4). On the last day of Seminar, each group will present the project and discussions will follow.
The main result will be collected oral testimonies, recorded on the dictaphone and video camera. The best interviews will be published at the project’s website, which is another deliverable of this activity. The exceptional informants will be included in the documentary project. Innovatively set website will later serve as a platform for other project’s activities. The documentation and other insights from the Oral History Seminar can be later on used as didactic material for students of History and Anthropology.
